Friday September 23rd, before the homecoming football game, the Orchesis members of Sycamore High School recruited hundreds of people to test drive a new Ford in order to raise money for their team. They were able to raise funds by partnering with Brian Bemis Ford through a program called Drive One 4 UR School, a program in which Ford donates $20 to the high school for each qualifying test drive. This year there was an added bonus. If a person test drove a 2012 Ford Focus after their first vehicle, Ford would donate an additional $10! Each person who test drove could raise $30! This was such a great opportunity and the students took full advantage!

The students signed participants up and as soon as the Bemis staff was back from a test drive, there was another one ready to go. It was non-stop test drives for over 3 hours! We are very pleased to announce that there were 210 total test drives! With the Ford Focus bonus added in we were able to raise over $6,000! We would like to thank everyone who came out and test drove a Ford and for supporting Sycamore Orchesis.

On Saturday I was lucky enough to have one of those wow experiences and all for Charity.  Dodge and Brian Bemis Dodge sponsored a test drive for schools at Sycamore High School.  This test drive happened between Sycamore High School Orchesis dance performances.

Between 4 and 7 pm, 5 Brian Bemis Dodge employees (Darren Hoth, Melissa Balon, Adam Lowry, Jack Rowe and myself)  did a test drive marathon.  And what a marathon it was, three hours of continuous participants for a 178 total test drives. Thanks to the energetic Booster Club mom and beautiful dancers, who were always recruiting drivers!  Thank you Tammy and Kristin, you were a large part of the success!

At $20 donated from Dodge per test drive, the test drivers all had a great attitudes and were having lots of fun with the event, which made it memorable for all of us working it.  I enjoyed the company and comments of all the test drives I had the pleasure to accompany.

Some of my favorite comment on the 5 New Dodge vehicles; (Durango, Dodge Grand Caravan and Dodge Journey) were:
“Are you sure this is a minivan it drives like a car?”
“now that is cool”  about the Durango’s touch screen navigation panel
“push start, where did the key go?”
“I didn’t know Dodge’s were this nice”
“what am I driving, I love it?”

Plus numerous wow comments about the All new Durango!

It also was a Brian Bemis record for number of test drives in a 3 hour period, beating the old record of 103 by 76 test drives!

What a great and enthusiastic event, which I was proud to be a part of it and raised over $3000 for Sycamore High School.
